Eaton Corporation acquired Aeroquip-Vickers in March 1999. Aeroquip-Vickers had $2.12 billion in sales in 1998. Aeroquip-Vickers was ranked as one of the 100 best-managed companies in 1997 and 1998 by Industry Week magazine. Aeroquip-Vickers had manufacturing and assembly facilities in a dozen countries and 16 states in the U.S. The company had approximately 16,000 employees worldwide. The company manufactured hose, fittings, couplings, and other fluid connectors; precision molded and extruded plastic products; hydraulic pumps, motors and cylinders; electric motors and drives; and, fluid-evaluation products and services.

  • Provided strategic and tactical leadership in recognizing, evaluating, and controlling all occupational health concerns within corporation.
  • Received Chairman's Award (ultimate form of recognition in Aeroquip-Vickers) in 1998 for leadership role in implementing OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program and changing Aeroquip-Vickers worldwide approach to safety.
  • Led Task Force studies for environmental, legal, and product liability risks. Task Force recommendations led to reorganization in the way the company identifies, prevents and minimizes risks.

  • Responsible for all EHS and security programs.
  • Managed three full-time and six part-time employees.
  • Primary areas of emphasis: RCRA, CAA, SPCC, and TSCA.
  • Developed blood cholinesterase, spirometry, and new product health risk assessments programs.
June 1979 - June 1981: Plaskon Products, Inc. (Toledo, OH)
Title: Supervisor, Industrial Hygiene and Safety

Plaskon was owned and operated by Allied Chemical Corporation from 1956-1979. Plaskon manufactured thermosetting urea-formaldehyde, epoxy and alkyd plastics. The company had 1980 sales of $80 million. Manufacturing was conducted in facilities in Ohio and California. The company had approximately 600 employees.

  • Assisted in workers' compensation and environmental control projects.
